Over the years we’ve seen a number of myths take on a life of their own when it comes to chiropractic care. It is common for myths to become accepted wisdom instead of established facts. At

[Core] Chiropractic and Wellness Centers, we believe in the value of chiropractic care and providing our patients with the answers to many questions they may have in relation to their health.

Let’s take a look at a list of the top ten chiropractic myths and examine the facts:shutterstock_108236873

Myth 1: Chiropractic adjustments are dangerous.
Truth: Statistical analysis studies have shown that Chiropractic adjustments are safer than many common activities like salon shampooing, riding a bike, and gazing at stars.

Myth 2: Prescription and non-prescription drugs are safer than chiropractic care.
Truth: Adverse reactions to properly prescribed medications are the third leading cause of death in America. Chiropractic care offers a safe, drug-free alternative to many ailments.

Myth 3: Once you start chiropractic adjustments, you’ll never be able to stop.
Truth: Regular adjustments are a part of a healthy lifestyle. However, the choice to continue is yours.

Myth 4: Chiropractic care is not effective.
Truth: Millions of people have benefited from regular Chiropractic care. People from various backgrounds, including corporate and industrial settings, a majority of professional athletes, and those desiring to improve performance and reduce repetitive type injuries, choose consistent chiropractic care.

Myth 5: Children don’t need Chiropractic adjustments.shutterstock_172994309
Truth: Chiropractic care is safe for children of all ages, including babies, and is helpful for a wide variety of ailments. We commonly see children to improve ear infections, constipation, poor posture, joint pain, and more.

Myth 6: Childhood bumps and bruises are harmless.
Truth: OSHA estimates that a child sustains 1,500 spinal–related traumas before the age of five. Regular chiropractic care can help minimize and correct those adverse effects.

Myth 7: Chiropractors aren’t real doctors.
Truth: Chiropractic students receive 4,485 hours of college classroom instruction vs. 4,248 hours for other medical students. Combine classroom instruction with resident clinic rotations, and the chiropractic student is ready to handle most health concerns.

Myth 8: It’s safe and beneficial to perform self-adjustments.
Truth: While self-adjustments can give temporary relief, a false sense of correcting the problem can often inhibit the healing process.

Myth 9: Your bones grind against each other during an adjustment.
Truth: The noise from an adjustment is the release of nitrogen gas from the spinal joint that creates the popping sound you hear during the treatment. Bones are not grinding together.

Myth 10: Chiropractic care is expensive.
Truth: Many insurance companies, including Medicare, cover adjustments because they have statistically quantified the benefits of preventative care versus drugs and surgery. As more research is completed, more chiropractic treatments will be covered by insurance for a variety of illnesses. In the meantime, the impact of any lack of insurance coverage can be minimized by our affordable cash fee schedule.
