In our previous blog post, we discovered the top 10 toxic foods that are likely to be lurking in our pantries and refrigerators, stealing our health. If we want to avoid these foods, where should we start?

First, identify the areas where you and your family need to make the biggest changes, but start by changing the areas that are easiest. Write down your goals, and follow them with 3-5 action steps that will help you to meet those goals. Concentrate more on the action steps than the goals, and you will find yourself moving toward improvement.

When grocery shopping, read labels and use a few of these simple concepts from our

[LivFit] seminar:
1. Look for products with a minimal amount of ingredients listed on the label.
2. Look for ingredients that are natural. These are ones that you can pronounce and would find growing in your garden (i.e. made from a plant, not made in a plant).
3. Look for foods made by God, not by man. Foods made by God grow in the ground or on a tree. They also used to fly, swim, or run and were not messed with before they got to your plate.

Because it’s nearly impossible to eliminate these 10 toxic foods completely, look to perform a simple 48-hour detox on a routine basis. In our [LivFit] seminar, our 48-hour detox focuses on natural foods that have detoxifying effects such as quinoa, kale, cucumber, pineapple, protein smoothies, and vegetable-broth soups.

We also use L-glutamine, a potent amino acid that aids the liver in alkalizing and detoxifying the body. L-glutamine also aids in weight loss, sleep, improved muscle recovery, and improves the body’s functions when under long periods of stress. L-glutamine is easily taken in a powder form and should be taken in doses of 5g to be clinically effective. For a great morning detox drink, add 5g of L-glutamine to 2 oz. of cranberry juice and 6 oz. of cold-brewed green tea. You can repeat this one or two more times each day during your 48-hour detox.
