We get a lot of “why” questions at
The fact is, the benefits of activities do not match the benefits of exercise. An activity such as yard work is not considered to be exercise as it is not purposeful. For example, unloading mulch is good, but will not build muscle like a specific weight-lifting regime. Cleaning the house may help improve your flexibility, but an exercise program to specifically increase balance and flexibility has been shown, in a recent article published in the European Journal of Preventative Cardiology, to increase life expectancy.
So how do you consistently work out when you don’t have any time? In our [LivFit] seminar, we teach how 15 minutes of intense training can be enough to tone, shape, and strengthen. With intense short workouts, metabolic conditioning stimulates the hormones that increase metabolism and launch the body into fat-burning mode for up to 48 hours after the workout.
This exercise style also does not allow for body adaptation, meaning that you will continue to get great results for weeks on end. These specific exercises incorporate all the essential characteristics of fitness including power, strength, endurance, balance, coordination, flexibility, speed, and agility. These routines can be used to increase the intensity of your workouts, shorten your workout times, and safely speed up your health and fitness goals.
In our next blog post, we show a sample of this type of exercise routine. In the mean time, please add this exciting opportunity to your calendar:
30-Day [CORE] Challenge
We are challenging our patients to join us August 28 at 6:00pm in our Downtown Roanoke office for the start of our 30-Day Challenge. We will instruct each individual in a workout that fits his or her fitness level. Then we are challenging each patient to perform just 15 minutes of exercise each day for 30 days. Participants will check in with us weekly via email on their progress. Those who complete the 30-Day [CORE] Challenge will receive a free pass to our next [LivFit] seminar scheduled to begin October 10. Watch for more details. Registration for the 30-Day [CORE] Challenge Class and the [LivFit] Seminar is required, and space is limited. Call or email us to reserve your spot.
