In this series of three posts, we want to share with you some of the highlights from our

[LivFit] seminar happening Thursdays, October 10, 17 & 24, 6:00pm, at [CORE] Chiropractic and Wellness Center in Downtown Roanoke. In [LivFit] we share vital information about how to live a fit and healthy life in this unhealthy culture.

We’ll continue with our 10 rules of carbohydrate intake that will maximize fat reduction while decreasing inflammatory bowel conditions, skin problems, and pain.

Rule 4: The darker the fruit, the better.
These foods are high in antioxidants because they have a thin skin. They need the antioxidants to protect them from the sun. Dark red, blue, and purple fruits are also great anti-inflammatory foods. The best sources are billberries, blueberries, cranberries, and raspberries.

Rule 5: The darker the fruit, the better for your waistline.
The darker the fruit, the lower the glycemic load. Dark fruits generally contain less sugar and can reduce the glycemic impact of foods taken in with them. For example, eating blueberries with pizza will reduce the rise in blood sugar and consequently insulin than just eating pizza alone.

Rule 6: Replace breads on sandwiches with lettuce.
Wrapping your sandwich meat in lettuce as opposed to using bread or a bun can significantly reduce your caloric intake. This will also reduce the glycemic impact of the meal and provide more antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. The best sources are kale, broccoli, and lettuce. Cabbage, cauliflower, mushrooms, green beans, onions, asparagus, cucumber, spinach, peppers, and zucchini are also good.
